The dishwasher (10) has a spraying device provided for spraying liquid. A sump and filter unit includes housing that encloses a sump. The sump is in flow connection with a fluid outlet of a tub (14) by an inlet and with the spraying device by the outlet for forming a liquid circulating path from the sump to the spraying device. A filter is arranged in the sump separating the inlet from the outlet of a cabinet housing for filtering the liquid circulating through the sump. A flushing pump is attached to the circulating path to pump the liquid from the sump to the spraying device.
