PURPOSE: An optical device is provided to reduce loss of light by changing the refractive indexes of the core and the clad of an optical waveguide using light. CONSTITUTION: An optical waveguide includes a core(120) which is surrounded by a clad(130). Light source supplies light to the optical waveguide. An optical system(310) is arranged between the optical waveguide and the light source. The optical system collects light which is generated from the light source into the core and the clad of the optical waveguide. The light includes a wavelength which is capable of changing the refractive indexes of the core and the clad.
