A plug-and-jack assembly comprises jackunit 2 (Fig. 5) with a sleeve 8 open at least at one end 12 provided with an axial groove 30 and a notch 18, partly within a reduced diameter portion 16 of the sleeve, extending through the sleeve wall with a key 32 fitted therein, and a cylindrical plug unit 4 having a groove 48, the key being inwardly constrained to hold the members 2 and 4 in locked relation by a circumferential split ring 40 movable outwards by the action of a tool T sliding in the groove 30 to permit withdrawal of plug member 4. Contact between the plug and jack members is improved by the pressure of the split-ring through the key. |
