The plant (100) has a rotor (150) comprising a rotor head (151) and rotor blades (152), and adjustable to a wind direction. A wind detection system (160) e.g. anemometer, lidar system or radar system, is positioned on a windward side of the rotor. The detection system is rotatably arranged at a carrier (170) at the rotor head and detects wind in a predetermined minimum distance (D) of 3 to 5 m. A clamping rope (171) is clamped between the rotor head and the carrier, for stabilizing position of the detection system. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a wind energy plant.
