A construction set comprises a plurality of elements mutually co-operable to produce at least one assembly, the elements comprising a plurality of connectors 10 each including a disc 11 provided on each side thereof with a respective axial projection 12 (the projection 12 may include the combination of sleeve 15 and post 13). The free end of the projection 12 is provided with two mutually orthogonal pairs of parallel grooves 17 each able to receive part of the disc 11 of another one of the connectors. The free end of the projection is additionally provided with a male bayonet coupling means 18 co-operable with female bayonet coupling means of another element of the set to produce a releasable locked connection therewith, namely female bayonet coupling means 19 at the periphery of the disc 11 of another connector, whereby the connectors can be connected in mutually orthogonal relationship or female bayonet coupling means (33, figure 10) of an adapter (30), whereby the connector and adapter can be connected in coaxial relationship.
