Exhaust gas recirculation system

The EGR system includes an air intake (10) connected by a low pressure supply line (12) to a turbocharger compressor (14) that is connected by a high pressure supply line (18) to the e.g. four cylinder diesel engine (20). A low pressure exhaust gas line (26) leads from a turbine (24) of the turbocharger to an exhaust outlet (30). The low pressure exhaust gas line and the low pressure supply line (12) are connected with a low pressure recirculation line (32). The recirculation line includes an electrically driven low pressure pump (34), which is volume adjusted in such a manner that a defined volume of exhaust gas is conveyed from the low pressure exhaust gas line to the low pressure supply line.
