The method involves using the mediums for increasing the coolant temperature, such as heat output medium. The high coolant heat is removed by using a high-performance air conditioning unit. A heat exchanger (4) or an engine oil cooler (40) is featured with counter-current characteristics. A coolant flow is carried out through the heat exchanger, where the main coolant flow is carried out through an engine. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an apparatus for operating a cooling and heating circuit of a motor vehicle; and (2) an internal combustion engine.
