The septic tank for producing biogas, comprises a container pot (1) for receiving biomass (14) and covering a film hood, a supporting structure (22) that passes the biomass in the container pot above the maximal filling level, a film hood, which clamps the gas-tight container pot on the structure in gas-tight manner, an agitator arranged vertically in the container pot at the supporting structure and is guided over a shaft up to the outside of the film hood, and a drive for the shaft of the agitator that is arranged at the external side of the film hood on the supporting structure. The septic tank for producing biogas, comprises a container pot (1) for receiving biomass (14) and covering a film hood, a supporting structure (22) that passes the biomass in the container pot above the maximal filling level, a film hood, which clamps the gas-tight container pot on the structure in gas-tight manner, an agitator arranged vertically in the container pot at the supporting structure and is guided over a shaft up to the outside of the film hood, and a drive for the shaft of the agitator that is arranged at the external side of the film hood on the supporting structure. The agitator comprises horizontally rotating paddles. The shaft of the agitator is arranged on a bottom of the container pot. The drive and shaft of the agitator are arranged along a straight axis and directly coupled to each other. The supporting structure is horizontal struts, which are guided as radially arranged wooden beams. The supporting structure is provided with a wooden floor (11). The bottom is covered with insulation made of nonwoven fabric. The film hood is formed as an expanded gas storage space and has a funnel-shaped constriction trough, which is pulled down to the supporting structure and is held over clamping means in gas tight manner. The agitator is placed in the container pot so that the shaft of the agitator is guided through supporting structure and film hood in the area of the funnel-shaped constriction trough. The drives are arranged for the shaft. The film hood is kept over a depositing gravel.
