PURPOSE: A position controlling device for a plasma arc torch is provided to improve the casting speed of silicon by arranging a plurality of plasma arc torches. CONSTITUTION: In a position controlling device for a plasma arc torch, an elevating apparatus(20) lifts a plasma arc torch in relative position to silicon molten metal. A rotation apparatus(30) rotates the plasma arc torch in relative position to the silicon molten metal in circumference direction. A tilting control device controls the angle of plasma arc torch in relative position to the silicon molten metal. A plurality of plasma arc torches(18) are arranged in radial direction. A driving gear is connected to a lifting motor and transfer power A screw jack is rotated by being engaged with the driving gear. A lifting plate is connected to the screw jack and is lifted by the rotation of the screw jack.
