The roll has a roll shell (4) rotatably supported at a rotationally fixed roll carrier (20), and hydraulic adjusting units (1) arranged at the carrier. The roll shell is loaded by the adjusting units over a loading shoe (3), where the adjusting units comprise pressure accumulators (5a). The pressure accumulators are connected with the loading shoe, and valves (11) i.e. seat valves, are connected with the loading shoe for controlling the pressure accumulators. Flow paths (15) control the valves for closing and opening of a flow opening (10). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling oscillation characteristics of a controlled deflection roll (2) a method for mounting a controlled deflection roll.
