PURPOSE: A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to supply a sustain signal of different types to a plasma display panel by using an energy recovery circuit. CONSTITUTION: In a plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof, a plasma display panel comprises a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. A first switch(S1) is arranged between a sustain voltage source and a scan electrode. A second switch(S2) is arranged between a positive sustain voltage source and a sustain electrode. A third switch(S3) is arranged between a first node and the ground. A fourth switch(S4) is arranged between a second node and the ground. A first inductor(L1) is arranged in parallel with the first switch. A second inductor(L2) is arranged in parallel with the second switch. A third inductor(L3) is arranged in parallel with the third switch. A fourth inductor(L4) is arranged in parallel with the fourth switch.
