The method involves applying light-hardening color gels (30a-30c) on a carrier, and hardening the applied color gels on the carrier using a light hardening process, so that the color gels are removable from the carrier. The carrier is applied on a nail stencil (10) whose surface corresponds to a C-curve of a fingernail or a toenail. The carrier is provided with a surface repelling the color gels. The carrier is formed from a Teflon(RTM: PTFE) foil (20). A number of intermediate hardening is accomplished during applying the color gels on the carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for decorating a finger nail or a toenail with a decoration insert.
