The trans-illuminator has a supporting surface (2) provided for supporting a material sample (1), and a filter glass utilized for the supporting surface. A light source (4) and a UV-resistant diffuser (3) are arranged below the surface. An emission filter (8) for separation of wavelengths and a device for visual or automatic detection and evaluation of the sample are arranged above the surface. An adjustment component (10) is arranged in an optical path between the source and the diffuser for adjustment of specific wavelength. The component is designed as a filter-insert or slider.
