The tool has a tool half e.g. secondary tool half (2), for retaining a form-stable carrier (3), and exhibiting a laminating area projecting over outer circumference of the carrier. The tool half includes parts (2.1, 2.2) that are movable between two positions relative to each other, respectively. Relative motion between the parts takes place along a closing movement of the tool half and another tool half e.g. upper tool half (1). The latter tool half is designed as a preblowing shell (1.1). The former tool half is provided with a vacuum connection for vacuum lamination. An independent claim is also included for a method for laminating a decoration material on a form-stable carrier.
