PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device for performing proper travel assistance even in the case of the appearance of an object from a dead zone. SOLUTION: An object recognition part 16 recognizes an object detected by an object detection part 3 by calculating the certainty indicating the likelihood of existence of the object. The object recognition part 16 performs calculation so as to increase the certainty as compared to a normal case if it is determined that the detected object has appeared from the blind corner. The object recognition part 16 performs calculation so as to increase the certainty as compared to the normal case, so that the time required for the object detection part 3 to detect and recognizes the object suddenly appearing from the blind corner, can be shortened. The subsequent processing can be performed earlier by shortening the time till recognition, sufficient time can be secured for proper travel assistance even for the object suddenly appearing from the blind corner.
