PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat having a simple constitution and capable of reliably supporting a waist part of an occupant during the normal seating, and rapidly protecting a neck of the occupant by a headrest when the vehicle is subjected to a rear end collision. SOLUTION: The vehicle seat 10 includes a supporting plate which is elastically supported on the inner side of a seat back frame, a pair of right and left longitudinal wires 61 which are arranged on a back side of the supporting plate 32 and extend in the vertical direction, and a headrest 13 mounted on upper ends of the longitudinal wires 61 via a headrest supporting frame 17, and further includes a headrest driving mechanism 15 for displacing the headrest 13 forwardly or forward-and-diagonal upwardly via the headrest supporting frame 17 by displacing the longitudinal wires 61 backwardly and upwardly by the backward load transmitted to the supporting plate 32. An upper transverse wire 63 abutted on or close to a back side of a lower part of the supporting plate 32 is stretched between the pair of right and left longitudinal wires 61.
