PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To early raise the temperature of a catalyst in an exhaust emission control device (a straight catalyst 40) in cold time of an engine 1, by compactly arranging an exhaust upstream side part 48 in an engine room 19 without sacrificing a cabin, in an exhaust system E of the transverse engine 1. SOLUTION: The exhaust upstream side part 48 includes a plurality of branch pipe parts 32, a plurality of intermediate collecting pipe parts 33, the final collecting pope part 34 and the straight catalyst 40. The straight catalyst 40 is arranged on the vehicle rear side of the engine 1 so that a gas flow passage of its inside extends in the substantially vehicle width direction in a plan view, and the plurality of intermediate collecting pipe parts 33 are curved so that the exhaust downstream side of the intermediate collecting pipe parts 33 turns to one side or the other side in the vehicle width direction in a plan view, and the final collecting pipe part 34 is curved so that the exhaust downstream side of the final collecting pipe part 34 turns to the vehicle front side in a plan view.
