PURPOSE: A system and a method for cracking down traffic signal violations are provided to regulate a vehicle closely following a next vehicle by using image information of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: In a system and a method for cracking down traffic signal violations, a vehicle detection camera(100) takes a picture of vehicle passing through a stop line and an intersection. The vehicle detection camera provides the image of the vehicle. A vehicle tracking camera(110) provides a tracking image. A data storage unit(120) stores traffic switch information, the vehicle image, and a tracking image. A controller(130) includes a detection module detecting a vehicle closely following a next vehicle and an image detection module. The image detection module obtains the vehicle following the next vehicle.
