<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector and its control method, capable of suppressing feeling of glare by projected image light, when ejecting a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: When a body operation part 22 or an operation signal reception part 24 detects operation of an ejection key, a control part 20 instructs an OSD processing part 35 to report beforehand to a user the effect that a DVD media M is to be ejected, and that a light quantity is reduced in company therewith. Then, the control part 20 instructs a dimming driving part 37 to block a louver of a dimming device 14. A light quantity to be projected is reduced by putting the dimming device 14 into the most blocked state.
