CUFF MEMBER AND CATHETER WITH THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cuff member which makes it possible to reduce the area of excising the skin or eliminate the need of excising the skin when mounting the cuff member on a living body, and to provide a catheter with the cuff member.

SOLUTION: The cuff member 1 comprises a roughly cylindrical part 2 having a center hole 2 and a roughly circular flange part 3 radially overhung from the cylindrical part 2. The flange part 3 is provided on the distal end side of the direction of inserting the cylindrical part 2 into subcutaneous tissue. The cylindrical part 2 is entirely constituted of a porous material, and the flange part 3 includes a core material 4 and a porous layer 5 which covers the outer surface of the core material 4 and comprises the porous material. The cuff member 1 is attached to the catheter 6 so that the flange part 3 is positioned more on the distal end side of the direction of inserting the catheter 6 into the living body than the cylindrical part 2. When inserting the catheter 6 into an abdominal cavity, the cuff member 1 is inserted into the subcutaneous tissue with the flange part 3 at its head. Thus, the flange part 3 of the cuff member 1 is disposed inside a subcutaneous fat layer.
