PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nanocomposite material used for a lens and a window material for infrared transmission. SOLUTION: There is provided a lens and window material for infrared transmission comprised of a nanocomposite material by mixing an infrared transmissive inorganic particle and an organic polymer resin to make a composite material. An average particle size of the inorganic particle is equal to or more than 0.3μm and equal to or less than 1.0μm, and the value of A/V of the particle is equal to or more than 4μm<SP>-1</SP>and equal to or less than 20μm<SP>-1</SP>, wherein V is the volume of the particle and A is the surface area of the particle.
