PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element capable of improving the efficiency of EL light emission by laminating an organic EL layer on a transparent electrode. SOLUTION: The organic EL element includes a transparent substrate 1 of a rectangular shape and an organic EL layer 3 arranged on one face of the transparent substrate 1 with a transparent electrode 2 interposed, and an end of the transparent substrate is beveled. Especially, the transparent substrate 1 satisfies conditions that either of an angle θ<SB>A</SB>of the beveled face 5A made of the beveled end against an opposite side face to the transparent electrode 2 of the transparent substrate 1 and an angle θ<SB>B</SB>of the beveld face 5B made of the beveled end against a transparent electrode 2 side face of the transparent substrate 1 is 110 degrees or more and moreover a value of T1/T2 in which a thickness T1 of the transparent substrate 1 is divided by a height T2 of the edge of the transparent substrate 1 is 2 or more.
