PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat roller fixation type fixing device preventing a fixation defect, and shortening a first copying time when starting a fixing operation from a standby state. SOLUTION: The fixing device includes a heat roller, which is rotationally driven with a heating means therein, and is configured to make a recording medium, on which an unfixed toner image has been formed, pass through a fixation nip part formed by bringing a pressure roller into press contact with the heat roller, and to fix the unfixed toner image onto the recording medium. The fixing device also includes: a pressure temperature detecting means configured to detect the surface temperature of the pressure roller; and a control means configured to make a control to immediately start the fixing operation when the detection value of the pressure temperature detecting means is equal to or exceeding a predetermined threshold, in starting the fixing operation from the standby state after the start-up of the fixing device, and also to make control to idly rotate the heat roller to start the fixing operation after the detection value of the pressure temperature detecting means increases up to the value equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold, when the detection value of the pressure temperature detecting means is below the predetermined threshold.
