The purpose of the invention is to improve the maintainability of a seal structure of a site whereat a rotary shaft is introduced to the inside of a housing. The seal structure of a mechanical device is comprised of a housing (18) having an opening into which an input shaft (21) is inserted, a retainer plate (41) which is coupled to the periphery of the opening of the housing (18) and has an opening through which the input shaft (21) is inserted, a felt ring (46) which is provided on the retainer plate (41) so as to seal a space between the retainer plate (41) and the input shaft (21), a split structure housing (43) which is provided so as to cover the retainer plate (41), and a split structure oil seal (45) which seals a space between the retainer plate (41) and the input shaft (21). An arciform projected plate (47b), which extends so as to be in contact with the wall surface of the split structure housing (43), is provided on the wall surface (41) of the retainer plate (41), and a storage space (490) for storing an oil seal (45) is defined by the wall surface of a cover, the inner diameter of the arciform projected plate (47b), and the wall surface of the retainer plate (41).
