PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an appropriate still image even when one still image is being processed for recording and another still image can not be recorded. SOLUTION: A video camera 100 that is one example of an image shooting device for shooting a still image while shooting a moving image, is equipped with: a shooting section 110 for shooting the still image while shooting the moving image; a recording section 120 for recording the still image shot by the shooting section 110 on a recording medium 150; an evaluation section 130 for determining an image evaluation value of a frame by evaluating the moving image in units of frames; and a recording control section 140 that halts recording of a first still image and controls the recording section 120 to record a second still image when an image evaluation value of a second frame corresponding to the second still image shot by the shooting section 110 within a predetermined period from the starting time of recording the first still image shot by the shooting section 110 via the recording section 120 is higher than an image evaluation value of a first frame corresponding to the first still image.
