The present invention relates to a dye composition comprising, in a suitable dyeing medium, at least one hydrophobic direct dye whose logP is greater than 2, the suitable medium containing water, and at least one propylene glycol derivative of formula (I) below R1(OC3H6)nOR2 This composition makes it possible to obtain strong colorations. Furthermore, the coloration obtained makes it possible to achieve or even exceed the fastness obtained by oxidation dyeing.
