PURPOSE: A tripod type constant velocity joint is provided to reduce shuddering by optimally controlling the distribution of contact force and/or contact angle between an outer roller and a housing groove. CONSTITUTION: A tripod type constant velocity joint comprises a hollow housing(302), a tripod, and roller assemblies. The hollow housing comprises a plurality of guide groove which are extended in the axial direction and arranged at regular intervals in the circumferential direction of the housing. The tripod has a plurality of trunnions which are formed in the positions corresponding to the guide grooves of the hollow housing. The roller assemblies are installed in the trunnions and installed in the corresponding guide grooves. An outer roller(303) includes a convex outer surface which has a first radius(Rry) on the cross section cut vertical to the center axis of the outer roller and a second radius(Rrx) on the cross section cut along the center axis of the outer roller. The center of the second radius is located outside the center of the first radius, and the second radius is shorter than the first radius. Each guide groove of the housing has a concave surface for coupling with the convex outer surface of the outer roller.
