A wireless communication device (20) is provided (12) with at least one promotional message. Upon determining (13) that a communication link for that wireless communication device is terminating (either intentionally or unintentionally and without regard as to why the termination has occurred), at least one promotional message is provided (14) at the communication device to indicate termination of that communication link to a user of the communication device. In a preferred approach the promotional message is unique in that the signal is not used for other annunciation or notice purposes. For example, the communication device will not use this signal to also indicate the existence of an incoming call. |
