The connector (1) has an electrical contact (3) and a contact carrier (2) i.e. connector housing, that is made of plastic material. A component (2a) of the carrier is made of a non-metallizable plastic component and another component (2b) of the carrier is formed as a metallizable plastic component. The electrical contact is formed by a metallization layer (4) that is applied on the metallizable plastic component. The metallization layer is made of copper or aluminum.
