<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery that achieves improvement in safety against penetration and crushing. <P>SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes: a case; an electrode assembly which is stored in the case and has a first plane, a second plane, and a coupling region for coupling both planes to each other; a support plate interposed between the electrode assembly and the case.
