PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder and a method for loading a feeding tape, confirming a traveling state of the feeding tape and securely loading the feeding tape automatically to the feeder, and to provide an apparatus and a method for mounting an electronic component with a high operation rate through the use of the feeder or the method for mounting the feeding tape. SOLUTION: A traveling state of the feeding tape traveling a tape chute is monitored from a monitoring groove provided to an upper part of the tape chute when the feeding tape housing the electronic component is inserted from an insertion port, the feeding tape is moved on the tape chute of a tape chute part, and the feeding tape is moved to a take-out position where the electronic component is taken out from the outside of the feeder.
