PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a state in which a user can start an information processing apparatus without taking time when turning on power without supply of power from an external power supply. SOLUTION: A first solar cell generates electricity in response to infrared light, and a second solar cell generates electricity in response to visible light. A first sensor measures the amount of current generated by the first solar cell. A second sensor measures the amount of current generated by the second solar cell. A power saving control part determines whether the measured amount of current is sufficient for operating a processing part (CPU, memory, hard disk, etc.) which processes information or not. If it is determined that the amount is sufficient, an external power supply control part makes the processing part supply power from the first solar cell and the second solar cell and stop supply of power from an AC power supply and makes an output part (backlight, etc.) outputting the information processed by the processing part to the user stop supply of power.
