PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the irregularities of output images when registration varies. SOLUTION: A pixel value of each pixel which composes a mask pattern is initialized to 0. A process of selecting one pixel of the pixel value 0 from the mask pattern, and changing the pixel value of the selected pixel to 1 which shows non-masking to update the mask pattern is alternately repeated by a plurality of the number of times, whereby the mask pattern is completed. At this time, one pixel of the pixel value 0 is selected for one mask pattern, and a correction mask pattern which has the pixel value of the selected pixel changed to 1 is generated. An evaluation value is obtained by obtaining the number of pixel positions where pixels of the pixel value 1 overlap when the correction mask pattern is overlapped with another mask pattern while shifted in units of pixels. An evaluation value for each pixel is obtained, a pixel which has the minimum evaluation value is specified, and a mask pattern to change the pixel value of the specified pixel to 1 is updated.
