PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for manufacturing laminated cores which meet a laminated core thickness tolerance, by solving the following problem associated with conventional methods for ensuring core thickness accuracy based on a number-of-laminated pieces control method: if variations are produced in thickness between sheet-like metal materials, the variations are produced in laminated thickness even though the numbers of laminated pieces are identical and if the core laminated thickness tolerance is equal to or smaller than the material thickness, the tolerance cannot be met by laminating or removing one core. SOLUTION: A measuring instrument is capable of measuring the thickness of a sheet-like metal material every one stroke of press. Using this measuring instrument, the cumulative dimension is measured at each lamination. When the present state of lamination falls below the lower limit of a laminated thickness tolerance and it exceeds the upper limit of the tolerance if one is added, the following procedure is taken: a material thinner than the standard thickness of the sheet metal material is fed to a mold from an angle different from that of a feeder for the standard sheet-like material and one or more thin metal materials are inserted.
