PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pest controlling agent free from ions exhibiting strong acidity and usable without causing problems of metal corrosion, etc. SOLUTION: There is provided the pest controlling agent composed mainly of a bound substance of chitosan and copper and obtained by reacting chitosan with copper acetate. A copper complex salt of chitosan obtained by reacting chitosan with copper acetate which is a salt of copper and acetic acid exhibiting weak acidity and extremely low metal corrosion is free from ionic groups exhibiting strong acidity, and the pest controlling agent composed mainly of the chitosan copper complex salt does not corrode metals in pest-control operation even by making in contact with the metals such as iron for a long time.
