PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fluctuation of detection accuracy among individual encoders. SOLUTION: An encoder includes a rotating section having a pattern and fixed on a rotating axis member of an object to be measured, a body section having a detection section for detecting the pattern and fixed on a non-rotating section of the object to be measured, and a plurality of latching sections disposed on the body section for positioning the body part, by latching to the non-rotating section.
