967,147. Dictating machines; back-spacing. DICTAPHONE CORPORATION. March 12, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 9740/63. Heading G5R. [Also in Division F2] In a stylus/belt-record dictating machine of the type otherwise detailed in Specification 910,739, the leadscrew 24, traversing the transducer carriage 30, engages a nut 32 in the form of a pinion which is locked to drive the carriage and is released to back-space it. The clutch mechanism locking or releasing the nut 32 (see Division F2) is of the cone type and operates in response to cam means 38. Preferably, the carriage member 30 is of a plastics material (with metal inserts 34, 42) which embraces the lead screw 24 and uses the lands of the screw as one of the carriage guide-rails. |
