<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having improved operability to set items displayed on a display screen. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes a touchpanel 20 which detects the position of an object to be detected with respect to an operation surface for operations as a coordinate position on the operation surface and a distance to the operation surface, and outputs them as object position information indicating the position of the object.
