<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication apparatus which can implement sufficient countermeasures against peep with a simple method. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU temporarily determines a right answer element list from an element list group (step S306). Then, the CPU determines whether the temporarily decided element list coincides with a preceding element list (step S308). When determining that the temporarily decided element list coincides with the preceding element list, the CPU returns operation to the step S306, and temporarily decides a right answer element list again from the element list group. When determining that the temporarily decided element list is different from the preceding element list in a step S308, the CPU extracts image data corresponding to the element list from an image data group (step S312).
