PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery that has no risk of ignition and rupture due to internal short circuit and is improved in safety. SOLUTION: The secondary battery 100 includes: a case 34; an electrode assembly 10 which is housed in the case 34 and includes a first flat surface and a second flat surface and a connection to connect the first flat surface and the second flat surface; and a support plate 60 which is positioned between the case 34 and the electrode assembly 10 and has a flat plate 41 that is electrically connected to the electrode assembly 10 and adjoins and overlaps one of the first and the second flat plate surfaces.
