PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposer which improves and maintains drying performance. SOLUTION: The garbage disposer includes a garbage storage container 12 which stores garbage 32, a rotating blade 14 which rotates intermittently to crush and agitate the garbage 32 added into the garbage storage container 12, a heater 20 which heats the bottom surface and/or the side surface of the garbage storage container 12, and a blower fan 19 which sends an air flow into the garbage storage container 12. In an early stage of operation, the operating time of the rotating blade 14 is made longer than the operating time thereof during time excluding the early stage of operation, and the garbage 32 is crushed to reduce the volume of the garbage 32. Transfer of heat from the heater 20 is improved to improve drying performance, and the volume of the garbage 32 is reduced, whereby adhesion of the garbage 32 to a fan cover 22 can be prevented and the drying performance can be maintained. Even when drying of the garbage 32 proceeds, the garbage 32 which does not come into contact with the garbage storage container 12 can be also dried by the air flow sent by the blower fan 19, whereby the garbage disposer excellent in drying performance can be provided.
