PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to adequately alert passersby in a proximity notification device which notifies passersby of proximity of a self-vehicle. SOLUTION: In a proximity notification system, a detection result of a position of a passerby around the self-vehicle is acquired (S220), and a collision probability map preliminarily associating positions of passersby with collision probabilities being probabilities of collision between the self-vehicle and passersby is referred to extract a collision probability corresponding to the acquired position of the passerby (S300). If the extracted collision probability is higher than a prescribed threshold, an outside alerting device emitting an alarm is operated (S120 and S130). That is, an outside alerting device 31 or a light 32 is not always utilized to emit an alarm, but an alarm is emitted at the time of detection of a passerby only in the case that a probability of collision between the vehicle and the passerby is high.
