PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchange method and a heat exchanger capable of efficiently and sufficiently performing preliminary heating. SOLUTION: A convey-out passage 16 and a convey-in passage 13 respectively for an outbound vehicle 12B conveyed out from a drying furnace 11 and an inbound vehicle 12A as a conveyed object conveyed into the drying furnace 11, are formed on the same closed cross-section conduit 17, the closed cross-section conduit 17 is divided into a plurality of areas of a first area 31, a second area 32, a third area 33 and a forth area 34 in the conveying direction, and heat exchange takes place between the outbound vehicle 12B and the inbound vehicle 12A in each of these divided areas 31-34 via the atmospheric air in the areas 31-34.
