PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indium-tin nanowire in which conventional problems are corrected, and solid-solution of a prescribed amount of tin into an indium nanowire is uniformly carried out, an indium-tin oxide (ITO) nanowire formed by oxidizing the indium-tin nanowire, and to provide a method for easily and inexpensively producing the indium-tin nanowire and indium-tin oxide (ITO) nanowire. SOLUTION: The method for producing an indium-tin nanowire includes: adding an initiator to a non-aqueous solvent comprising grains essentially composed of sub-halides of indium, dissolved with a tin compound and also admixed with acid; and causing disproportionation reaction to obtain the indium-tin nanowire.
