The steering shaft (3) has a pulse generator as a component of a sensor unit for detecting the rotational position of the steering shaft. An axial stop is assigned to the pulse generator and the pulse generator is fastened on the steering shaft by an adhesive. The pulse generator is arranged at an axial distance from the stop. The cured adhesive is present on the steering shaft between the pulse generator and a stage. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a steering shaft for a steering device.
