The method involves providing test voltage to a device contact (102), and detecting evaluation voltage at an evaluation contact (122) that is connected with the device contact by a resistor (124) and with another device contact (104) by another resistor (126). The operating voltage is deactivated, and third evaluation voltage at the evaluation contact after the voltage is deactivated.
