PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve feeling of work at connecting a terminal fitting. SOLUTION: An elastic contact piece 26 is capable of elastically displacing in a direction crossing to an insertion direction of a tab 11, and in a state where the tab 11 is positioned outside of a square cylinder part 21, held at a retreating position outside of an insertion space 27 of the tab 11. In the elastic contact piece 26, a contact portion 29 brought into contact with the tab 11 and a receiving portion 30 arranged on the opposite side to the contact portion 29 in the elastic displacement direction of the elastic contact piece 26 are formed. In a male terminal fitting 10, a pressing portion 12, which is not in contact with the receiving portion 30 in a state where connection to a female terminal fitting 20 has not been completed and the tab 11 has reached a corresponding position to the contact portion 29, is formed. In the insertion process of the tab 11, the contact portion 29 is brought into elastically contact with the tab 11 following that the pressing portion 12 is brought into contact with the receiving portion 30 so that the elastic contact piece 26 is elastically displaced toward the insertion space 27 side of the tab 11.
