<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens unit performing light emission control of a flash, a body unit that is detached and attached to the lens unit, an imaging device including the lens unit and the body unit, and an imaging method using the imaging device. <P>SOLUTION: The lens unit is attachably/detachably connected to the body unit via a communication interface. The lens unit includes a photographing optical system including an optical lens, an imaging means including an imaging element for photoelectrically converting the subject light having penetrated the optical lens, an image processing means for generating image data from the output of the imaging means, and a flash controlling means for controlling the light emitting operation of the flash included in the body unit. The flash controlling means controls the light emission of the flash according to a release signal received from the body unit; the body unit can be detached and attached to the lens unit, and the imaging device includes the lens unit and the body unit.
