PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device for allowing a user to select and manage an arbitrary play list. SOLUTION: A management unit is configured to add a management unit for managing all the registered play list information and a high-order management layer, and to treat the management unit equally as integrated information indicating a reproduction range of all AV data. The integrated information defined by the user is treated in the added management layer.
