PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation defect position locating device of a linear conductor capable of locating highly accurately an insulation defect position. SOLUTION: This device includes: an insulation defect range determination part 2 in a length direction for applying a voltage to one end of the linear conductor, detecting a discharge current generated by discharge at an insulation defect position and propagating inside the linear conductor, and determining the insulation defect range of the linear conductor based on the detected discharge current; a spatial insulation defect range determination part 4 for detecting an electromagnetic wave radiated into a space by discharge at the insulation defect position by using a plurality of discharge detection elements arranged on prescribed positions to the linear conductor, and determining the insulation defect range of the linear conductor based on the detected electromagnetic wave; and a locating part 5 for locating as the insulation defect position, an overlapping spot of the insulation defect range determined by the insulation defect range determination part 2 in the length direction on the insulation defect range determined by the spatial insulation defect range determination part 4.
